The Lake Taupo Challenge is New Zealand's premier and largest cycling event with over 8,000 riders. It can at times get a bit congested as riders jostle for their place on the narrow but picturesque roads around Lake Taupo. It's during these times that riders can get too close, and if your rear wheel quick release is sticking out, there is a risk of you and the other rider getting locked up causing a your quick release to come loose and possibly crashing. To eliminate this problem here is my best advice - make sure your quick release lever is pushed in flush below the rear stay as shown in the picture below. By doing this small adjustment, you may have saved yourself from a nasty mishap!
